Papers of the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters

The Michigan Academician, completing its 39th volume, is the quarterly journal of the Michigan Academy of Science, Arts, and Letters. Each year, one issue published contains the abstracts of all papers presented at the Michigan Academy’s annual meetings (conference) held on the campus of a different member institution each year.

To order a single back issue of the Michigan Academician, please send $13 to the Academy office. Make check payable to "Michigan Academy". The issue will be mailed first class mail for the U.S. and air mail printed matter for other countries.

Papers written by current members of the Academy are eligible to be considered for publication in the Michigan Academician. Papers do not need to be presented at the annual conference, nor do they need to be written by a Michigan author or pretain to a Michigan subject for consideration. All submissions undergo peer review. Submissions are welcome at any time; please consult the Guidelines for the Preparation of Manuscripts. Published under the direction of the Academy's Editorial Staff (Brian Bodenbender, Hope College; Mary Theresa Bonhage-Freund, Alma College, and Alice Horning, Oakland University) the Academician welcomes reviews of books published in Michigan, on Michigan topics, or by Michigan authors. The journal also publishes research projects in Michigan colleges and universities.

The current circulation of the Michigan Academician is about 800 paid subscribers, primarily individual members of the Academy and college and university libraries. The journal is indexed by 30 services, including the MLA.

A subscription to the journal is included with the regular or retired Academy membership dues. The current subscription fee for nonmembers is $50 per year (mailed at periodicals, formerly "second class" rate), $55 for foreign subscribers (via air mail, printed matter). For a sample issue and a subscription form, contact the Academy office.
